Community of Practice Project (MO UCEDD, with NASDDDS, NACDD and HSRI)
This five year grant will identify and implement policies and practices that will serve as a national framework for states to use to support families with members with I/DD across the lifespan. 5 states will each form a team that is facilitated jointly by the state I/DD service system office and the state Council on Developmental Disabilities with additional membership from self-advocacy and family organizations, university, education, aging and other organizations.

'Parents Perspectives' Video Series from the OK UCEDD
This short video series features parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities or special health care needs. In the videos, parents share their perspectives on getting a disability diagnosis, supporting their children through transitions in the school system, and dealing with emergency personnel.

'Understanding a Down Syndrome Diagnosis' Booklet Available Through Kennedy Foundation and Kentucky's Human Development Institute
Copyright to the nationally lauded booklet has been donated to the The Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation. The booklet continues to be available in print and as a free digital download through the Lettercase program at the University of Kentucky's Human Development Institute. Over 25,000 copies of Understanding a Down Syndrome Diagnosis have been distributed nationwide since 2008.

Former Trainee Alicia Curran Joins MoLEND as the Family Faculty
Alicia initially connected with the LEND when her family volunteered to have a trainee shadow them. The trainee matched with the Curran family "recruited" Alicia to apply as a family trainee; she was ultimately selected and finished the program in May 2012, when she began her employment with MoLEND.

"CERC-ling" the Wagons: How Bronx Moms Helped Shape Needed Services
For any parent, finding out your child has disabilities changes your world forever. For a pioneering group of five women in the Bronx, Mary Bonsignore, Mary St. Mark, Dorothy Stone, Nellie Velez and Anna Mae Vener, the children who changed their worlds led them to the herculean undertaking of altering the world around them, so they could make a place for their children and others like them to live, learn, love and laugh - instead of being locked away in an institution.

Transplants for Children with Disabilities: Information for Parents
Developed by the Elizabeth M. Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities at the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, this pamphlet contains information for families of children with disabilities on organ transplants. Topics include advocacy, important things to know, medication and diet, school programs, and the federal law.

Family-Centered Inclusive Practices Represented in Interdisciplinary Clinical Evaluation Reports of Young Children Diagnosed with ASD and other Developmental Disabilities
The Institute on Disability UCEDD at the University of New Hampshire and the New Hampshire LEND are conducting a research project designed to identify exemplars of family-centered inclusive practices in interdisciplinary clinical evaluation reports for children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disability between the ages of 18 months and 5 years at the UNH Seacoast Child Development Clinic.

80% Autism Divorce Rate Debunked by Kennedy Krieger Researchers
from Having a child with autism can put stress on the parents: marriage, and a frequently cited statistic leads to a common perception that the divorce rate among these families is as high as 80%. But a study released by researchers from Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore found that a child's autism has no effect on the family structure.
